What you just did is called Quiet Eye (QE)—a gaze pattern used by elite athletes.
Pro golfers fixate on one spot on the ball for 2–3 seconds on average before starting the backswing. That sends accurate position data to the motor cortex and helps keep the stroke stable under pressure.
Before you start the backswing, fix your gaze on one spot on the ball. Elites hold it for 2000ms or more.
Low-handicap players (0–9) fixate on the ball about twice as long as beginners.
With QE training, success rate holds up in tense situations (green line).
On the green, follow these steps.
This is the key step.
